I have been contracted to deliver some training for a social services department in the next few weeks. The aim of this is to begin the process of developing health policy for children and young people in care. I have been negotiating over the focus and content of the day for some weeks now and have begun to develop a programme for the day, based on the needs of young people. Some research was recently carried out in the area, which gives a clear framework for developing the work.
So far the emphasis has been on engaging senior managers from different disciplines within social services. The contractor has been insistent that managers sign up to this process, so I was slightly surprised to receive an email saying 12 adults and two children would be taking part.
