What's a typical day? I attend briefing sessions with tutors and assemblies to talk to children about options and upcoming events. I then meet individuals. I assess each person and decide which tier of support they will need - intensive, supported or universal - according to the Connexions pyramid, which helps you to identify and target specific help to individuals. I volunteer on Saturdays at a drop-in centre.
What got you the job? I was a careers adviser and when Connexions came here three years ago, I trained to become a personal adviser.
Most rewarding aspect of the job? I love my job and the biggest thrill is seeing a young person moving on and making progress, and also when they come back and thank you.
