What problems do these young people face? Many young asylum seekers have no proof of ID and face disputes over their age with the Home Office.

Even if they do have papers, they can still face disputes. We often have to struggle to prove a young person's age, so we normally try to get a report from a paediatrician to challenge social services. If they accept it then it is likely the Home Office will too.

Do you have a youth work background? Yes, I used to work with children back in Kosovo. When I came to the UK 13 years ago, I worked for Albanian Youth Action as a volunteer and also worked for the Refugee Council as an interpreter. I became a children's panel adviser because I knew how hard it was to try to integrate into a new place.
