Soft outcomes, though, are more difficult to measure because we are talking about someone's quality of life. Spirit Level measures a person's wellbeing, sense of belonging and personal development.
It was developed by The Foyer Federation and Fairbridge and I set up a company Philantech to sell it. It's a for-profit company but all the profits are shared by the two charities, so we want to make lots of money.
Have you got experience of youth work? No, I used to work as a buyer and merchandiser for companies including Donna Karan, Dolce & Gabbana and Disney, but eventually I got bored of working for retailers. I love the youth sector: every problem is unique and challenging, and I've learned a lot since setting up Philantech.
