What does a typical day involve? No two days are the same. Normal working hours are nine to five but this obviously depends on workload and so on.

On most days I am dealing with the Home Office, Ministry of Defence, Scottish Executive and the Welsh Assembly Government. The major part of my job is to secure funding so that the project can grow and develop. I also liaise with charity groups and the like, again to try to secure further funding.

Do you work directly with young people? Not directly, but during my spare time I am an instructor with the Army Cadet Force. I get to work with the young people on most weekends and normally during a two-week summer camp. I was once a cadet myself and I get a great sense of personal achievement when I see the young people develop over the years.
