BACK PAGE: And this is what I do - Gill Warner, projectco-ordinator for looked-after children, Ceredigion

1 min read

Instability can be a big part of a looked-after child's life as they move around a lot, and they asked us if we could hold regular activities so they could meet each other.

What are your responsibilities? I look after two main age groups: five- to 10-year-olds, and 10- to 16-year-olds. I don't really have targets to meet as most of the work is about what the young people want.

What kind of projects do young people get involved with? I have a free rein to explore whatever the young people are interested in. We have a flat where I try to teach them life-management skills, such as cooking and shopping on a budget, for preparation for when they leave care. We also do a lot of art and dance projects to help them develop their skills.
