Back Page: And this is what I do - Andy Lanham, national activity centre manager, Scout Association

1 min read

What facilities does Gilwell Park have? The park has 108 acres of grassland and woodland. It also houses two residential units, which have 96 beds for young people, plus a conference centre and an on-site hotel. The activities include climbing, canoeing and even curriculum-based work for schools.

Were you a Scout? Yes, I started off as a Cub Scout and progressed to a Scout Leader. I also worked as a warden for two other camp sites before taking this job.

What are you working on at present? We are preparing for the EuroJam in July, the largest international Scout camp in 50 years. About 1,500 young people from around the world will visit Gilwell every day for activities.
