Arts: Calendar project bridges age gap

Young people and older residents from Holmcroft Youth and Community Centre in Staffordshire have teamed up in a bid to raise money for Mencap and the NSPCC.

The Mission 12 project challenged young and elderly people to work together and design a charity calendar for 2008.

The older people learned how to use computer software, while the young people were taught about working in teams.

Ken Down, manager at Holmcroft Youth and Community Centre, said: "Everyone had a really good time working and learning together and some real friendships have been formed."

The calendars will be on sale for £3 each over the Christmas period.
