A project to get young people involved with older generations and make a difference.

Funding £1,000 from the O2 It's your Community Award

Aim To get young people to interact with older generations while making a difference to their community - Young people involved in Nacro's youth inclusion project (YIP) in south west Burnley spent a day turning a bare patch of land into a garden.

Cash from the O2 It's Your Community Award, which aims to make people in communities work more closely together, paid for tools for the work and benches for the new community garden.

The group of 20 young people consisted not just of those involved in the YIP but their friends and families too. After receiving gardening advice from their local agricultural college, they spent a day toiling to transform land round the back of Parkside Methodist Church into a pleasant area for elderly people to sit.
