Children can now enjoy riding their bikes in the undercover outdoor space, building sandcastles in a new sandpit, playing in a log cabin and discovering different flowers and plants in the sensory garden.
Why? Action for Children's Claire Wilson, office manager at Greenley's Children's Centre, believes it is vital to offer outdoor play facilities for children. "It's really important that children get to explore the outdoors and get some fresh air in a safe and fun environment," she says. "That's exactly what our new garden will do." Families will also be invited to join their children at the centre. "We want to encourage more families from the local community to join us for the fun activities we are planning over the next few months. The space will allow the children to explore the outdoors without the weather getting in the way," Wilson adds.
