
A network of youth organisations has established 1,005 new uniformed youth work units across the UK in three years, it has emerged. A Youth United Foundation report found that 12,719 young people have taken part in youth groups established during that time, and 3,439 adult volunteers have been recruited.
More than 124,000 people are to benefit from a scheme aimed at using sport to tackle social problems affecting young people, ethnic minorities and women. Sport England said 46 projects in disadvantaged communities across England will benefit from a slice of £8.2m in National Lottery Funding.
A scheme that sees some of the UK's leading employers provide unemployed 16- to 24-year-olds with training and work experience has helped more than 30,000 young people, it has emerged. The findings from the Movement to Work programme come as 30 more UK employers pledged to offer vocational training and work experience placements to young people.
A businessman has been appointed chair of Chorley Youth Zone. Youth charity OnSide said Andrew Turner will use his business knowledge and experience to help transform and expand the soon-to-be developed youth zone.
