Latest research by the Sutton Trust found that just half of 16- and 17-year-olds surveyed thought careers advice about universities is helpful. The charity is calling for schools to offer guidance on higher education at an earlier stage.
Latest figures on pupil absence in England show there has been no change in the number of unauthorised absence in primary and secondary schools over the past year. Overall absence was 6.26 per cent of half days missed, a small reduction on the previous year.
A greater number of graduates from Scottish universities are finding full-time employment within Scotland. Figures on higher education leavers show that 81 per cent are now employed in Scotland, up two per cent on 2006's figures.
