Technology scheme to get pupils active

School pupils in the North West are being encouraged to lead a healthier lifestyle through an initiative combining physical activity and IT.

Over 50,000 students aged from 10 to 16 are to be targeted over the next six months, following a partnership between a fitness group and a technology company.

Liverpool-based education company MGL has signed a partnership to work with The Xoolon Sports and Fitness Academy, which has created the online tool.

Young people access the 'Xoolometer' online or via mobile phone. They can record their sporting progress and find out which sports suit them best depending on their mental and physical abilities.

After successful trials in schools in Bristol and Edinburgh the portal is now available nationally.
