The National Day Nurseries Association, which already has 22 networks in England and Wales, has established its first Scottish network in Dumfries and Galloway.
The new network, which will include representatives from 14 nurseries in the area, will hold meetings to discuss good practice and act as a forum through which nurseries can communicate with the local authority.
A number of other networks in Scotland are under development, but the Dumfries and Galloway group is the first to launch.
Ann McEwan, chair of the Dumfries and Galloway network and owner of ABC Nurseries, said: “After weeks of hard work bringing nurseries together and setting the network up, we hope that we can nurture our relationship with the local authority, share ideas and find answers to common problems and we are looking forward to a successful future.”
