Child Poverty Network to encourage joint working

Local authorities and agencies in London are being encouraged to work together to tackle child poverty with the launch of a Child Poverty Network.

The network, launched by London Councils and the Government Office for London, aims to share good practice, discuss local issues and to support pan-London approaches to tackling child poverty.

It will link policy makers with frontline staff from local authorities, primary care trusts, Jobcentre Plus and housing associations, through quarterly meetings and a website.

James Kempton, London Councils' executive member for children and young people, said: "By bringing these people together we should be able to establish what works across the capital - and in differing local circumstances - and by doing so, develop robust solutions to London's child poverty crisis."
