Childhood cataract network launched

1 min read Health
A network to support the parents of children with cataracts has been formed.

The Childhood Cataract Network is a forum for families familiar with the condition, which affects three in every 10,000 children. It has been set up by a group of parents who felt support and information should be more easily available.

The parents came together through the internet to create a website, with the help of organisations including the National Blind Children's Society, Contact a Family and IT4Communities, as well as medics from Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Lucie Bright, chair of the network, said: "Up until now there hasn't been a dedicated UK support group available and we wanted to provide information and links to other services all in one place."
