MSPs on the Scottish Parliament's Education Committee conducted thereview, gathering evidence from early years experts and visitingsettings in Scotland, Sweden and Finland.
In its final report, published last week, the committee said early yearsmust be a priority for investment and highlighted the importance ofboosting the skills of the workforce. It wants the Scottish Executive todevelop a 10-year strategy for early years education.
However, Bronwen Cohen, chief executive of Children in Scotland, saidshe was disappointed. "It is good that the report recognises the need toinvest," she said. "We also welcome the 10-year strategy. But I'mdisappointed by its limited aspirations for what can be achieved."
