Most people know that Scouts make a promise to help others. Previously, that might have taken the form of litter picking or washing cars. But today Scouting has empowered me and many others to support those with dementia.

Most people know that Scouts make a promise to help others. Previously, that might have taken the form of litter picking or washing cars. But today Scouting has empowered me and many others to support those with dementia.

There can sometimes be a feeling that young people don’t care about wider social issues. However, I think Scouting’s work with The Alzheimer’s Society is challenging that perception. I’m taking part in a Scout campaign called “A Million Hands” that is all about inspiring social action with partnerships like this. It’s an amazing opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives.
