I joined my local youth council six months ago because I saw many issues affecting my community, and I thought I could make a positive impact.

I have an autism spectrum condition, and joining the youth council was a challenge for me. It has made me more committed to making a change, and more willing to listen and work with my peers. As well as developing these skills, it has had a positive impact on my outlook on life – I am more optimistic and happier in myself now that I am helping others to get their voice heard.
