Fostering and adoption service The Adolescent and Children's Trust (Tact) has been working with local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales for 17 years.
Hugh Pelham, the charity's executive director of children's services, says: "As we are working on behalf of local authorities it is extremely important to be able to demonstrate we are achieving good outcomes."
In Tact's Fostering Outcomes report for 2009, figures show that exclusions from schools have dropped from 20 per cent in 2005 to 15 per cent this year. On top of this, 82 per cent of Tact's young people who have left school attend college, compared with the average of 80 per cent for all young people.
