Fostering open days have proved key to Hammersmith and Fulham being able to offer young people in need stable foster placements.

The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham has received an unprecedented amount of interest from residents considering fostering after three open-day events to mark Foster Care Fortnight, in which foster carers and care leavers met residents to discuss the role.

The importance of recruiting new foster carers has been highlighted by the Fostering Network, which published research showing that more than 10,000 foster carers are needed to make up the current shortfall across the UK.
