Young people's achievements were recognised at a parliamentary reception on Wednesday (25 June).

Work done by young people through The Prince’s Trust’s RBS Community Cash Awards was shown off at the reception at the House of Commons. The event was attended by Baroness Andrews, who heard from the young people about what their projects had achieved.

The RBS Community Cash Awards give disadvantaged young people the chance to both develop their own skills and help others in their local community.

Mohammed Allad, 17, from Preston, led a community project with funding from The Prince’s Trust. His Community Clean Up Project aimed to rejuvenate the local graveyard - something that local people had asked the young men to do as part of their project. It also had a second purpose of teaching young people about the dangers of drugs.

We think that a proper drugs education is important for young people – and our graveyard clean up goes to show the positive impact young people can have in their local community, he said.
