Disability: Backbench MPs to support Bill on improving services

A Bill to improve services for disabled children could enter Parliament in the next few months.

Children Now understands that dozens of backbench MPs have indicatedthat they would be willing to push through a private member's Bill thatis currently being drawn up by the Every Disabled Child Matterscampaign.

Campaign manager Steve Broach said the new Bill that build on the10-minute rule Bill that treasury minister Ed Balls adopted last yearwhile still on the backbenches.

He said: "This time we want to make a serious attempt at changing thelaw. So our plan is to get a revised version of the Bill adopted by anMP who comes high up in the private member's Bill ballot. The campaignalready has expressions of interest from several leading backbencherswilling to go into the ballot for us."
