Crimestoppers slams 'anti-snitching' campaign

1 min read Youth Justice Policing
The Crimestoppers charity and its youth brand Fearless have hit out at reports that leaflets have been distributed urging people not to pass on information on recent shootings in London.

It has been reported that leaflets urging people to "stop snitching" have been produced, along with a website that features young people telling witnesses not to come forward. The website, believed to have been launched last year, warns that "snitches will be dealt with".

Kristina Gregory, Crimestoppers' youth projects co-ordinator, criticised the ongoing campaign. She said: "It is not about ‘snitching’, it’s about trying to make our streets safer for us all – you, your friends and family.

"Fearless is a service for young people that allows them to pass on any information about crime without revealing their identity. If you are against crime, show it, by being fearless and telling us what you know.
