The review was announced in this year's Budget and will inform the 2007Comprehensive Spending Review. It includes three sub-reviews: disabledchildren; youth services; and high-risk families. Treasury minister EdBalls told Children Now that there is a focus on services for disabledchildren.
The launch of the terms of reference coincides with the firstParliamentary hearing on services for disabled children (Children Now,28 June-4 July). Balls said: "We want to engage with experts andfamilies from the beginning. We are going to take a very broad look atthese issues; at the way services are provided. We will genuinely beable to use the expertise to shape the work we want to do."
