Disabled children: MPs review to help improve services

The Government is about to launch a groundbreaking review that could define the future of services for disabled children, Children Now can reveal.

The parliamentary review will involve MPs from all parties developingnew ways of improving support for disabled children.

Disabled children, their parents and carers will be directly involved inthe review process by being given the chance to tell MPs about their ownexperience. It is thought to be the first ever review of its kind.

The review's conclusions will feed into the comprehensive spendingreview that will set out the Government's spending plans up to March2011.

The Treasury and the Department for Education and Skills are supportingthe review, which will be led by Labour MPs Tom Clarke and JoanHumble.

A panel of 12 MPs, drawn from all parties, will carry out thereview.
