Charity launches play sign scheme across capital

The charity London Play is fighting back against "no ball games" signs with "play priority area" signs designed to highlight play spaces.

The charity, which promotes and supports play across the capital, launched the street signs this week as part of a campaign to encourage managers of public spaces to take a more child-friendly approach.

London Play said it hoped the signs would be used to point out natural play areas across the city.

The government invested £10m in play this April, on top of the £225m already committed in The Children's Plan to develop 3,500 new play areas and 30 new adventure playgrounds in England.
