Cash for Welsh Foundation Phase

1 min read Early Years Education
The Welsh Assembly Government has announced 60 million pounds of Foundation Phase funding.

The cash was unveiled as part of the New Budget for Wales and was welcomed by private, voluntary and day nurseries. But the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) stressed the importance of making the funds available to all sectors, whether public or private.

The new budget was announced by the minister for finance and public service delivery, Andrew Davies. He said: "Given the current economic difficulties, I am pleased to announce that as a result of good financial management, I am able to release extra funds from reserves for additional investment in our key public services over the next two years.

"Key changes include an additional £60m over two years to fund the full roll out of the Foundation Phase - an innovative programme which will ensure that our children get the best possible support in the early years of their education."
