Wales cash boost for autism research

Health
The Welsh Assembly Government has announced 60,000 of funding to help develop a policy on autism for Wales.

The money will pay for a chair of autistic spectrum disorder based at the Wales Autism Research Centre. The centre is an initiative by Autism Cymru and other partners and will be based at the School of Psychology at Cardiff University.

The chair will contribute to gathering evidence to develop the Autistic Spectrum Disorder Strategic Action Plan for Wales. The plan is being reviewed following consultation.

Jane Hutt, Wales's minister for children, education, lifelong learning and skills, said: "This project will help place Wales at the cutting edge of the world autism research map."
