Northern Ireland plan for autism services

Northern Ireland's health minister has announced he will develop an urgent action plan for autism services.

Michael McGimpsey said he would be fast-tracking the action plan and making changes as soon as possible, following the publication of an independent review into services across the country.

 There is a need to address the shortfall in existing autistic spectrum disorder services, in areas such as workforce, specialist assessment, early intervention, structured behavioural interventions and family support, he said. I will ensure these will be delivered through the action plan.
