Funder Willard Garfield Weston was a Canadian businessman who founded Associated British Foods. His foundation was created in 1958 with an endowment of family shares and his heirs continue to control it.
Aim The trustees have no specific priorities. Looking back at where money has gone in recent years, the annual report includes sections on arts, community, environment, education, health, religion, welfare, and youth.
Who can apply? UK registered charities plus other bodies exempt from charitable status such as churches, educational establishments, hospitals and housing corporations.
