
The predominantly rural county of Wiltshire has managed to devolve most of the decision making for its youth opportunity and youth capital funds to local groups of young people. This year, these groups have a total of £216,100 to spend for the youth opportunity fund and £186,800 for the youth capital fund.
What is the panel structure? Wiltshire already had representative decision-making groups of young people in the form of eight Locality Young People's Issue Groups. The initial job of promoting and sifting applications was given to these groups, which have since been transformed into 20 Community Area Young People's Issues Groups (Caypigs).
