Me & My Youth Worker - 'Linda made me feel I'm not alone'

1 min read Youth Work
Becki-Joe Christie, 20, and Linda North, project worker for Project John in Barrow-in-Furness.

- How did you first meet?

Linda: "It was about four years ago. I was running a course on housing for young people living at a hostel and Becki-Joe was staying there. She had a history of family breakdown and ended up moving out of her family home when she was 16."

- What happened next?

Linda: "While she was on the programme, we also told her about the range of other support Project John offers to young people living independently. Becki-Joe started using our drop-in advice service when she needed assistance but gradually she started to attend some of our other projects. Then her tenancy fell through and she moved into our supported housing project."
