Project: Adopteens

Purpose: To provide a range of support for adopted young people

Funding: Adopteens is commissioned by One Adoption North and Humber and One Adoption West Yorkshire. Other funding includes a three-year grant of £326,824 from the National Lottery Fund in 2023 to expand its work across the whole of Yorkshire and the Humber and £30,000 from BBC Children in Need to develop the Adopt a Change programme

Background

In 2014 the Department for Education launched “The Big Consult” to hear from adopted young people and birth parents in England and Wales about their experiences of adoption. Adopteens was set up by a group of local authority adoption teams and voluntary adoption agencies in Yorkshire and the Humber inspired by feedback from local young people.
