PAC-UK has given adopted young people a space for self-expression and empowerment through its Adopteens programme, which is a service for adoptees aged 11 to 17 across Yorkshire and the Humber.

Starting in 2014, Adopteens aims to connect adopted children with each other to reduce isolation. Since its creation, it has evolved to give young people a voice in the adoption system through a youth council and the opportunity to create and deliver training to professionals.

“The Yorkshire and Humber consortium wanted to listen to young people and commissioned the Adopteens service, with in-person events and a large online space because of the size of the region,” says Tanya Killick, head of Adopteens in the region.
