Adopted young people produce magazine and DVD

1 min read Education Social Care
Adopted young people are promoting positive attitudes towards being adopted with a magazine and DVD.

The 15- to 23-year-olds, who created the resources, are part of a group run by the adoption agencies Coram Adopt East Midlands and Adoption Support in the West Midlands.

The magazine, called The Adoptables, includes poems, interviews and problem pages, while the DVD, You Don’t Look Adopted, Do You?, focuses on an adopted girl’s life story book, which contains information and pictures of her life.

The DVD and magazine are part of a pack that also includes games and worksheets.

"We wanted to show others at school how we wished to be treated when they found out about our lives and to also show we have a lot of bravery as young people, to carry on with day-to-day life considering the problems we had," said Stacey, 17, part of the group.
