What are they doing? St Columba's has installed a Cyber Coach system to help pupils keep fit. The school was able to purchase the state-of-the-art technology after receiving a grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

How does it work? Cyber Coach teaches pupils dance and fitness routines via a large-screen projector. Professional coaches are pre-recorded, demonstrating a range of activities including cheerleading, Bollywood dancing and step aerobics. Pupils then follow the coaches' instructions step by step by watching the big screen.

What do the pupils think? Ronan Dunne, head teacher at St. Columba's, says Cyber Coach has made PE more popular. "We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to launch this new scheme. Both staff and pupils really enjoy using Cyber Coach, which is also a great way of encouraging the children to get more active," he says.

What next? The school is now looking into opening a Cyber Coach after-school club, which would allow parents to come along and get fit with their children.
