What did it involve? The children worked with a group of over-60s from the local area to find out about their special interests, before helping them to search online for websites that would be relevant to them. As part of the sessions, the school children provided refreshments for the older people, while additional support was available from the housing group's community development and IT teams.
How did it go? Tom Smith, 80, says: "The children have really helped to open my eyes as to what's out there, and given me a new understanding and confidence in exploring the worldwide web myself. I can't wait to have another go." Judith Amery, head teacher at St James Infant School, adds: "This event has been full of enthusiasm and energy on both sides, changing the way our pupils see older people, and vice versa."
