The scheme is part of a wider initiative called Living Heritage, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
How did it go? The pupils planned and planted a flower bed at Harrington Square after researching Victorian design, visiting a Victorian garden and considering the colour and design of the buildings around the square. The children also learned about the types of plants and patterns used in Victorian garden design, and about the scale drawings that were used.They even built their own stumpery: a garden feature similar to a rockery, but made from parts of dead trees which provide a habitat for many types of wildlife.
