Camden Council, London

1 min read Education Extra-curricular
What did they do? Gifted and talented pupils from 15 primary schools in Camden took part in a filmmaking project, designed to stretch their abilities outside of the usual classroom environment. Students from two Camden secondary schools mentored the primary school pupils for the duration of the scheme.

What did it involve? The council teamed up with Bloom Productions to allow children on the project to script, film and edit their own short films, based on the theme of journeys.

What was the result? Each of the pupils received a DVD of their film and a certificate for taking part in the project. The films were screened to family and friends at the Tricycle Cinema in Kilburn.

What did the pupils think? Khowla Yusuf, from Edith Neville School, says: "We got to decide on our own stories and use equipment like cameras and microphones, which was fun. I am also really proud to have a copy of our film on DVD and will definitely show it to all my friends and family."
