For eight weeks, I've been on residential trips with a group of 16-year-olds. We tried out snowboarding, mountain biking and various outdoor and indoor activities. After, we were expected to do 50 hours community work on an issue of our choice. It seems a lot, but it was great fun.
We decided on homelessness and worked with Paralympic champion Tim Prendergast and Dame Kelly Holmes. Their stories were an inspiration and motivated us to do our best. We met homeless people at Centrepoint, did a sponsored sleepout to experience a homeless night for ourselves, and have been deliberating other fundraiser ideas since.
