Projects chosen to deliver the government's flagship youth programmehave revealed details of their bids.
The government last week selected 12 organisations to run the NationalCitizen Service (NCS) pilot programme next summer.
Despite national specifications for the NCS, each of the 12organisations has tailored programmes to reflect their own objectivesand local requirements.
About 11,000 16-year-olds are expected to take part in the eight-weekscheme next summer. But already organisations are planning to be moreflexible about when the programme will be held.
"One of our considerations was that lots of young people here rely onseasonal work," said Lindie Whitfield, director of services at YoungDevon, which will be delivering the scheme with its partners in theSouth West. "So people can either join right at the end of the schoolyear or mid-way through the summer holidays."
