Youth sector recognised in first King’s Award for Voluntary Service

Youth charities are among hundreds of organisations to be recognised in the first King’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Some 262 charities, youth groups and museums across the UK have been recognised for their outstanding work as part of the awards, previously known as The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

This year marks the first award in the name of King Charles III.

Winners include Wigan Youth Zone which was also awarded the Children and Young People’s Charity Award at this year’s Children and Young People Now Awards.

Other youth organisations to be recognised are:

Lancashire’s United Youth Alliance which was hailed for its work in facilitating spaces for communities to lead collective change and increase social mobility.

Bournemouth Youth Marching Band for enabling young people, regardless of ability, to develop social and musical skills.
