Children’s sector leaders recognised in King’s first birthday honours

Children’s social care, youth work and early years leaders are among those recognised in King Charles III’s first birthday honours list.

Anne Turner, director of children's safeguarding and social work at Camden Council has been handed an order of the British Empire award (OBE) for services to children's social work.

Beverley Halligan, principal social worker for children and families at Newham Council has been awarded the same accolade.

Meanwhile, Angela Frazer-Wicks, chair of the Family Rights Group (FRG), has been awarded a member of the British Empire medal (MBE) for services to children and families.

Frazer-Wicks, whose two eldest sons were adopted in 2004, has been a member of both the Family Justice Council and the government’s national implementation board for the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care. She was was a founding member of the FRG's parents' panel which was set up a decade ago.
