She joined around 50 practitioners, volunteers and campaigners - including former children’s commissioner for England Anne Longfield who was awarded a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) - in this year’s honours.
Really honoured and humbled to be recognised in the Birthday Honours 2021 with a CBE for services to children. It continues to be a huge privilege to support children & their families & to work with so many other great people to do so. https://t.co/vodAaFA1ma

In addition, a number of young people were awarded honours including Rhys Mallows, 25, who was awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) after repurposing his whiskey distillery to produce hand sanitiser and 21-year-old Amika George, founder of the #FreePeriods Campaign who received an MBE for services to education.
In an article for British Vogue, George shares her difficult decision to accept the award due to the connotations of the word "empire".
“To me, accepting this MBE is one way of drawing attention to the horrors of that imperial history, and its ongoing presence for people of colour in Britain.
By accepting this honour, I hope that I’m also demonstrating a slow, but increasing, recognition of young people as real, political actors,” she writes.
