Roberts-Bibby was appointed to the role by YJB chair, Keith Fraser, after a competitive recruitment process, the board said.

The appointment comes after Claudia Sturt quit her role as chief executive in January after less than two years.

Roberts-Bibby has worked for the YJB for five years, previously as chief operating officer, and has a background in prison reform, with prior stints at Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS).

Commenting on Roberts-Bibby's appointment to the role, Fraser said: “It’s fantastic to be able to appoint Steph as our permanent chief executive. Steph has already devoted five years of her impressive career to the YJB’s mission, and she is dedicated to improving communities and the lives of children in the system.

“I have every faith that Steph’s passionate and inclusive leadership will continue to inspire colleagues within and outside of the YJB.”

The reaction to her appointment has been positive on social media.

Recent work from the YJB includes its collaboration with The Ministry of Justice to fill increasing numbers of probation officer vacancies in the youth justice system.
