Small grants to help people rebuild local communities

Funding Grants are available for anything between £75 and £750.

Funder The Wakeham Trust provides small grants to help people rebuild local communities. It aims to provide funding for initiatives that other funding sources do not support. The trust looks particularly favourably upon neighbourhood projects, community arts projects, projects involving community service by young people and projects set up by people who are socially excluded.

Aim The Wakeham Trust often funds projects seen as unpopular causes by other funding streams. New start-up projects are favoured because the trust aims to break the cycle in which organisations have to be established to get funding, but need funding to get established. The trust will not fund the construction of buildings, repair work or sports facilities. Nor does it give grants to individuals or for staff salaries.

Who can apply? Projects that are new, small and do not employ staff are most likely to receive funding from the trust. It is also helpful if applicants can demonstrate how their project could potentially become self-supporting. The trust can only make grants to registered UK charities. If your organisation is not a registered charity, the trust will make a grant to a charity in your local area, which can then pass the money on to your project.
