Funding The Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards Scheme provides one-off donations of between £500 and £4,000. Trustees also consider larger grant applications at their tri-annual meetings. These grants range between £4,000 and £25,000.
Funder The Trust was set up on 1 June 1987 to support both national and local community charities, and to add a 20% top up to staff fundraising. It is run by a board of trustees recommended by the main board of Tesco PLC.
Aim The Tesco Charity Trust aims to help Tesco support the local communities in which it operates. This includes on a local level to support the needs of employees, customers and communities around stores; on a national level, to support initiatives that address identified need through existing charities' activities; and on an international level, to help the company's business and supply chain to make a difference in their locations.
Who can apply? Projects that support children and their education and welfare, elderly people and adults and children with disabilities.
Deadline In 2013/14 The Tesco Charity Trust provided cash grants of over £2 million to local, national and international charities. Grant applications are currently closed for review and they are not accepting new applications at present. Please check their website shown below at a later date for an update.
