
Study author Together for Short Lives (2017)
When it comes to commissioning practices of palliative care services for children in England, there has been very little research; and data is not always routinely collected. In order to try and fill a gap in this area, Together for Short Lives - a charity supporting children living with life-limiting conditions, and their families - issued freedom of information (FOI) requests.
The charity sent these to every Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and upper-tier local authority in England, asking how they plan care and support for children who need palliative care and their families; and finding out which services they commission for them.
