A survey of organisations working in palliative care conducted by charities Together for Short Lives and Hospice UK found that local government funding has fallen 61 per cent over the last year.
Of the 21 charities to provide data on council funding, the average amount received in 2015/16 was £43,095, a dramatic fall on the average in 2014/15 of £110,909 per organisation.
Council funding now amounts to just one per cent of children's palliative care services income.
